Sati-9 inspected the wreckage, head tilting to the side as she crouched down and started mindlessly wiping sand off of the console. "This doesn't look like it's in very good shape," she muttered, the lights of her eyes fading after a few blinks.
She tapped at the console, hoping that it might respond in sine positive manner, but even if it did she wouldn't know where to go from there, unfamiliar with the controls. Best not let her Ghost know that, though. Best to keep touching things and looking like a competent "Guardian".

"Perhaps." The Ghost responded, reappearing beside her after having vanished some time ago. It watched the Exo curiously as she approached the console, and then proceeded to just start tapping away at the flight controls for some reason. Well, she seemed to be a curious sort. The Ghost shrugged it off, moving beside her and interfacing with the radio console. "It's salvageable. May take a bit of time, and it won't be perfect but it should be enough to get us a ride out."
It paused after another moment, turning to the Exo. "You may be able to help boost the signal. Open the console to your left. There's an antennae that may still work. If you bring it out to the roof, it'll make our call for help considerably clearer."

She felt foolish watching her Ghost interface with the radio so easily. Oops.
Listening to his explanation--he was as much a him a she was a her, she mused--Sati-9 gave the little construct a nod and poked around in the pointed out console, retrieving the antenna and relocating herself to the outside sun and heat to look for a good point to stand on. "How far away is this City, anyway?" After a small pause she continued. "I don't remember where here even is."

"Far enough. Not too long at all by Jumpship." The Ghost paused a moment before adding, "You'll see." Another moment of work yielded a burst of static from the console. It could mean something. "Not surprising, I doubt this was your ships original destination. Though where that would be is also lost to me. As for where? I told you earlier, though it was once known as the Sahara desert. If that means anything to you." The Ghost went to work tuning while it waited for the Exo to set up her antennae for them.

"Oh right," she replied, scrambling up on top of the wreckage of the cockpit and raising the antenna high in the air. "Sorry, there's just been a lot of information to take in," she shrugged, orange eyes looking off into the distance, as if there was anything worth looking at out there, in the great big nothing that served as her tomb.
She waited until it seemed like an appropriate time to talk again, after the distress signal was put out at least. "I'm Sati-9, by the way. You never asked, but I think it's better than being called Guardian, or whatever else you might call me." She paused for a moment, then continued. "I don't know how I remember that, but I do." Another pause. "Do you have a name? Or are you just Ghost? Err, a Ghost, I mean."

The static started to clear as the antennae got set. "Sati-9. Alright. If that's what you wish to be called then. I do not have a name of my own. I am what is left of the Traveler. As are all Ghosts." It didn't sound upset about this, simply delivering the news matter of factly.
Finally something other than white noise came through the radio, and the Ghost's attention turned fully to that. "Hello? Yes I have a freshly woken Guardian here. We're requesting immediate transport to the Tower." It paused, listening to a voice that only it could hear. "28 north, 30 east. The wreckage of an old transport ship. The smaller wreckage. I'll see if we can build you a signal yes. Thank you."
The call ended, the Ghost floated to the roof where Sati stood. "Transport should arrive shortly. We should search for anything the cockpit may hold to make ourselves visible. Signal flares or similar."

Sati-9 may not have been able to frown, but if she could, she would have been at the thought of a nameless Ghost. At all those nameless Ghosts out there. She didn't quite understand why, but her name felt important to her. After a small amount of thought, she determined it made her feel different. Unique. Again, she wasn't sure why that was important, but she respected that it simply was.
"Can do," she replied, setting down the antenna and climbing off the wreckage she had carefully positioned herself upon. Rooting through the remains of the cockpit was difficult, dirty work, having to dig through the sand and search for any viable supplies. After a minute of digging and prying things apart, she found a single flare gun with a spare shot, as well was four flare sticks. "We can make a perimeter with these," she suggested, then blinked. Perimeter, she thought. Something in the back of her mind nagged at her, but she dismissed the thought as quickly as it came.

The Ghost followed Sati back down, watching her dig and tracking the time since the call had been made. Once she found the flares it flit toward the door. "It's probably best to set those right away. This isn't the largest landmark for a ship to find." The shell spun in thought before it moved back toward the console. "I wonder..." It started, though it kept whatever thoughts followed to itself.

She did as was suggested, placing the flares around the wreckage and setting them off, then finishing with one shot into the air with the flare gun from the center of the square. A bit overkill with the flares perhaps, but it was like the Ghost had said, this was just a small spot in a sea of sand. Being found was top priority.
"What's up?" she asked, climbing down from the wreckage of the cockpit to check in on her Ghost. "Find something?"

"Hold on..." The Ghost responded, a thin beam shooting from its lens into the console. Another minute passed before a light started blinking. "There. I activated the distress signal. That should give them a bit more to hone in on."
Turning away from the console, it looked up at the exo. "Sati-9. I recovered what data I could about the ship from before the crash. It wasn't much, but I thought you might like to know given your curiosity. The ship was one of many that tried to flee from Earth during the Collapse. I couldn't find the exact point of departure, or where it was heading. It seems it was driven off-course though and eventually crashed here." It paused, drifting idly. "I'm not sure if that helps or not."

"It does and it doesn't," she replied, arms folding tightly across her chest. "I mean, if it was trying to flee this . . . Collapse, would that tell us how long ago it was?" After a small pause, she added another question. "Was I running with them," she muttered, referring to the humans, "or was I . . . protecting them?" The difference seemed important to her, for whatever reason.

"You are a Guardian. It's in your nature. I can not answer with any certainty, but if I had to guess I would say odds favor you being one of their protectors." Again the shell spun, a gesture that seemed to be the equivalent of shrugging for it. "As for how long ago, it is not precise and sadly I couldn't salvage any dates."

"There's a difference between ten years and one hundred years, though. It'd be nice to know, somehow, how long I was down and out," she complained, clearly not pleased with the amount of information she didn't have at her disposal. "I guess it doesn't really matter, though. What matters is that . . . I'm a Guardian, like you said."
She leaned herself against one of the remaining walls, then slid down to sit in the sand. "While we're waiting, can you tell me about what I'm supposed to be protecting humanity from? Can you tell me about the Darkness?"

"A long time. I can tell you that much." The Ghost floated lazily back and forth in front of her. "It is best to focus on the present." The Ghost moved back to Sati's side, "I will tell you what I can for now."
With that the Ghost started to tell Sati of the minions of the Darkness, and the various threats that had beset humanity. The Hive, the Fallen, the Cabal. There was another it mentioned, the Vex, though it seemed to know little about them. Of the state of humanity, confined in hiding to a single city with enemies on all side. It was enough to give Sati a base line, and when she inevitably asked questions, it answered what it could.
Eventually a roar of engines came over the wreckage, the sound of transport and freedom. Another Guardian and their ship would see them to the City and once there they would be able to be set up with their own.
