It was almost time for her to sleep, but she couldn't settle in after the incident with the Murmur. Thus unable to sleep, Cate took her pain pills and waited for them to kick in before she started down toward the engine room of the Paragon. Normally she wouldn't use them to go around the ship, but her leg was still acting up after her earlier rush to the Medbay. "'ey Finn!" She called out as she stepped through the door, "Ya got a minute or am I interruptin' somethin'?"

Finn, after having recovered from the Murmur attack, had gone down and barricaded himself in the engine room. That wasn't to say it was hard to get into, or even blocked off, but it was his sanctuary. When Cate entered, the jukebox was blasting full volume.
Hit by the A-Train, crashed in an airplane
I wouldn’t recommend either one
Finn was at his work bench, in the process of putting something together. Upon coming closer, it was clear that it was a armored plate for the torso, something lightweight and easily assembled. He hadn't seemed to hear Cate, but the controls for the Jukebox were close to the door.

Cate groaned at the music that greeted her within, reaching over to hit the mute button of the jukebox.
Killed by a Greate White or a meteo--
"I take it that stuff blastin' means you ain't asleep at least." She made her way around to where Finn's workbench was, tilting her head at the sight of his current work. "Y' don't waste any time, do ya?"

Finn jumped when the music cut off and turned around quickly, but then relaxed when he saw Cate. He shakes his head, shifting over a bit to offer her some room at the bench. "I can' sleep. Figured I may as well make m'self useful, aye?" he asks, getting off his stool and offering it to her as well. He was a bit fidgety, more than normal, and began to clear off space away from the plate. "Shoul' keep any more buggers from tryin' ta burrow in, aye?"

Cate moves to inspect the plate closer. "Certainly impressive for somethin' whipped up in a few hours." She sighs, looking to Finn. Her own mask of cheerfulness was slipping already. "Ain't we watched enough of those old horror movies for you t' know better'n look for the creepy crawlers on your own?" She huffs. "You're lucky ya hit the intercom when ya did."

"In all fairness, I didn' think it was some saw-toothed monstrosity." he huffs, folding his arms over his chest. "An' which idjit wasn' properly vaccinated, hmm? Non' on m'ship! The Paragon's a clean lass!" Finn said, banging his hand on the bench, then promptly hissing in pain and clutching at it. "Ow ow ow ow ow!"

Cate shrugged, "Probably one o' them from the Pythagoras." She yawned, "Ain't no surprise really. Slimy little thing livin' out on an abandoned ship. More likely than zombies I suppose." She was trying to make light of it, but it was strained. "I'm glad ya ain't hurt. Not really anyway. An' the things dead an' gone, Finch saw to that."

Finn looks to her and nods, shaking the last tingles of pain out of his finger tips. "Aye, I hear'. Glad t'hear it, but still, gotta make sure it cant happen again." he says, reaching over and tapping his knuckles on the plate. He then paused and looked to her. "I... hear' ya came down t'get me withou' yer medicine. Thanks."

Cate blinked, "I-- Well hey, ya were screamin' like a little girl. Needed someone t' come save your butt!" Her hand rubbed at her leg as she talked, even with her meds having made the pain numb by now. "It's only a few rooms away, ain't a big deal or nothin'."

He smiled at that, then patted her on the shoulder. "Well, still. Thanks t'you all, didn' wind up as worm chow." he says, before looking to the plate. "So, Ferrum, eh? Can' remember goin' there since we foun' the ol' girl rustin' in a scrapyard."

Cate shook her head, "Ain't that great of a place. Packed tighter than the city back home, an' I don't care much at all for the air there. It's all thick an' junk, don't know how folk there can stand it." She smiled, "This girl's 'bout the only favor that place's done me as far as I'm concerned. Ya got any plans for planet-side this time?"

"Afrai' not. Haven' had much time t'think about it, t'be honest. I take it then y'dont either?" he asks, tilting his head and leaning back against the bench. He looked past Cate to the wall, watching the vent warily for a moment.

"Do I ever?" Cate shrugged, "Ain't worth the trouble half the time. Why bother leavin' when I got everythin' I need right here with me." She grinned, "It's all just a big pain. Like I said, can't even stand the air out there." Laughing a little, she followed Finn's gaze to the vents. "...Y' gonna be alright down here?"

"... no' likely, bu', where would I be?" he asks, sighing and shaking his head. "Jus' rattled, is all. Nee' ta remember the ol' girl isn' the one who tried to eat me, is all."
He then looked at her and smiled. "If I recall, there is a pub near the por', the one we ate at when we landed there. Why don' we stop in quick?"

"I... don' know." She sighed, "Maybe. See how I feel. I might be needin' some sleep by the time we get there. Y' know how it goes. Gotta be ready for anythin' while we're movin', time in port's about all I got for catchin' up." A hand went up to run through her hair, "If y' want company I'm right up front. Y' know that."
