"See? A' leas' one other person wit' proper taste buds on our ship." Finn says with a laugh, lifting a curly fry in salute to Dom before tossing it into his mouth. Swallowing, he looks up to Silas and nods. "How 'bout you? Which side're you on, curly or waffle heathen?"

The employees were certainly hard at work, one of the black twins racing this way and that, trying to clean and stock and cook all at the same time. The second twin moved at a leisurely pace, and seemed much happier than her frantic double. The cook frequently nudged the racing twin away, arguing that she should let him do his job.
After just a few moments of conversation, the slower waitress returned to the group and set down a ham sandwich, slice of apple pie, and a cup of coffee down in front of Dominica. The hasty twin showed up with the curly fries, passed them off to her double, then scurried into the back room. "Anything else I can get for you folks?" she asked, looking over her shoulder to see what Silas wanted, if anything.

Silas blinked at Finn's question, busy turning in circles in her swivel chair like a child. "Uh . . . I abstain. I can tell that decision is going to make me a few enemies, and I'd like to keep all of you lovely people as my friends."
She looked over her shoulder into the kitchen, lips pursing as she watched the employees hard at work, following the waitress as she returned. "I'm good, but thank you. I ate while I was out." She was actually starving.
"How's the air, Cate? Enjoying being, you know . . . out and about?"

Dom saluted with her curly fry, crisp but with just the right amount of give to dangle. She popped it in her mouth and chewed slowly with a look of overdone satisfaction. She then turned to the rest of her meal and dug in. She was very hungry and made no attempt to hide it. "So.." She managed to say in between bites. "Anyone have any leads on a new job yet?"

Cate was most of the way through her burger when the waitress returned with Dom's food. "Actually yeah, could I get one of them fancy cake slices ya serve?" Her order taken she turned her focus onto Silas, giving the woman a shrug. "It ain't the cleanest air, but I guess the food out here certainly beats out what we have on the ship." She grinned, her voice taking on a teasing tone. "Though I think Keenie's intent on ruining her appetite before your date tonight."
"As for jobs? Only thing any of us have found yet is a good warm meal." She said, returning her attention to her food and taking a large bite of the burger.

Keani shovels down more of the waffle fry goodness, mopping off a streak of ketchup from her chin. She rolls her eyes at Cate, grinning at the pilot over the devoured plate. "Oh, it's just a snack before things later. I'll be ready to go again when it's time for the real food tonight." She picks up the cup of green, sipping it down before gesturing to Silas and Dom with her cup. "Jobs? Haven't heard of anything yet, but I figure it shouldn't be too hard to find something for us."

"Sorry, Keani," she started, running a hand through her hair as if she needed to fix it. "I think I lost my appetite after my grub down in the Wound. We'll have to rain check our meal tonight," she shrugged. Her attention left to focus on the waitress as she walked away. "I'll have some water, actually. Now that I'm thinking about it."
Her 'order' placed, Silas' attention returned to the group. "So . . . are we all gonna stay tight-lipped about this, or am I going to be the one to ask?" She briefly looked at each member of the group before continuing. "Where'd Finch run off to? She's never pulled out of a mission before, at least not as long as I've been sailing with you all."

Finn's reply came late, as much of his attention was focused on the meal before him. He brought his burger to 3/4's completion, then set it down, lifting a napkin to clean off the resulting mess of juices and ketchup.
"I ain' go' any idea abou' Finch. Jus' up an' leaves like tha'? Thinkin' I'm gonna have t'cut off the contrac' with her, if'n she's gonna up an' bail on us before somethin' big like that." he says, shrugging before picking up his burger to finish it off. "I'm kinda hopin' we fin' somethin' easy, as I was tellin' these two." he says, pointing towards Keani and Cate. "Somethin' tha' will le' me relax after all tha'. They ever star' up a tropical colony of nothin' bu' beach fron' property tha' needs our work?"

"I'm sure it must be somethin important for her to bail on us. We didn't really need her with us anyway." Dom shrugged and nibbled on a fry. "I'm sure she'll call us when she's done with whatever she's doin." She then glances over to Finn. "The ones with the beaches always seem to be tightest with the cash."

Keani reaches out to swipe a fry from the edge of Cate's plate, nibbling on it while blinking at Silas' letdown. "It's okay, really," she tells the tech, finishing off the fry before picking up her cup. "We can always do it next time anyway. It's... nice, y'know. But when you get indigestion from that stuff..."
The counselor's eyes stay down on her empty plate as she sips the drink, shrugging at the mention of Finch. "Who knows with her stuff? The bosses always do things that seem mysterious and are good for the crew's best interests. And I wouldn't mind something easy. Preferably something without ichneumon xenos trying to eat us alive."

"I'm always open to being paid in a week-long vacation at a fancy beach, if they don't wanna pay in cash." Cate laughed, finishing off her burger and swatting Keani's hand away from her fries. "You got your own. Ya want more you can order 'em." She took a moment to finish off her meal before pushing the now-empty plate away from her.
"As for where Finch is? Who really knows. She ain't always been the most open person ever. She was one of them government spooks before, right?" She gave a shrug, "Who's to know. Maybe she'll tell us when she's back, maybe not. It's how captain's work I think."

"I ask," she began, pursing her lips into a very thin line, "because I want to know how long we're on this rock. I mean, are we good to just take off without her? She's the captain. Last time someone tried to gun it with the captain's ship, they lost both their hands and were left to burn on a desert planet," she grunted, not eluding as to whether or not that was a human crew or a Narid crew.
"On the topic of jobs, who likes to ski? I might know a few snow lodges that could use some cargo shipped to them. Nestle up by the fire . . . hot cocoa and all that," she shrugged, throwing out a quick suggestion.

"It's only been a few hours. Let's give her a chance to explain herself. It's not such a bad thing to spend a few days planetside. As for work, I don't know about the cold. And I've never skied. Maybe a couple simple cargo runs?" Dom shrugged and took a bite of her sandwich. "I've got a good idea. I'll get some stuff together at the shops down here and tomorrow I'll make Grandma Garza's famous burritos. Hopefully Cap'll be back by then to enjoy them too."

"'fer the record Silas, I'm the damn owner of the ship." Finn stated with a shake of his head, before chuckling. "She couldn't say ah damn thin' if we took off! Though Dom is righ'. We'll wai' a few days a' leas', see if we hear from her an' see to personal affairs. If we haven' hear' from her by then, we either look for 'er, or star' plannin' our next move, aye?"

Finished with her drink, Keani set her cup back on the booth's table before grabbing another napkin. "So basically sounds like we're doing it Finnie and Dom's way, and stay dirtside for a few days. I don't think any of us would complain about that too much." She leans back in the booth, her gaze passing over each of the assembled crew. "As counselor, I highly recommend taking the time to enjoy yourselves while here. The boss would definitely want that for us while we recharge and get rested. In the meantime..."
Keani lifts her arm into the air, calling out for the waitress. "Excuse me, ma'am. I'll take another helping of meatloaf and more of those heavenly fries. Oh, and keep the green drink coming."
