As the group investigated, the more time they spent within the ruin the more apparent it was that things had changed. There was a faint ringing in their ears, a soft sound that could only be heard if one strained really hard to listen to it. More noticeable than that, the air in the ruin wasn't as thick as it was outside, and gravity appeared to be equal to that of Earth and other terraformed planets.
As Silas touched one of the pillars, a small ripple would echo throughout the complex. Once she removed her hand, all the dirt and stains that were once on her gloves were now removed, a temporary tattoo on the humming metal, which was quickly fading.
Despite the small increase in weight, Cate felt lighter than ever. The pain in her leg was minimal, and had she not taken her medication, she might notice the lack of pain.
The walls were decorated with patterns and symbols carved into the steel of the entry, all of them pleasing from a cosmetic point of view, but serving no real purpose like Egyptian hieroglyphics might. Decorations, and nothing more.

Cate tilted her head as she regarded Keani's idea. "How can it be an automated cleanin' system if it ain't got no power?" She asked, turning her attention back to the ruins. "This place feel a bit too clean to anyone else? Ain't stuffy no more, and..." She trailed off as she caught sight of the dirt disappearing against the pillar.
"...Guess that explains how come it's so clean. I don' get it though? If there ain't any power, how's the wall work?" She moved up to prod at a few of the symbols, "...Think this is how the Adimar lived? Jus'... clean and normal air an' all light and stuff?"

Finn began hunting around the nearest screen, searching for some sort of input device, fingers gliding along the rim of the display. "A'course I can get it workin'! Jus' nee' t'fin' a keyboar', or somethin' similar... if no', I'll rig somethin' up, jus' you wai'."
He paused, cocking his head and listening to the noise. "Migh' be this is their version of a airlock. Decontaminate before movin' in deeper, y'know? Would explain why it's so empty..."

Managing to hear the faint ringing for only a quick moment, she instantly blamed it on her imagination. It was easily forgotten as Angelique's eyes flickered to a close, a smile forming as she inhaled though her nose enjoying the blissful moment.
Missing the sight of Silas' glove by the time that Angel opened her eyes, she turned her attention back to Finn. "Decontaminate, How?"

Keani shifted from foot to foot, making her way deeper into the supposed airlock for the ruins. Looking at the pillars, she still kept one hand on her repeater, though it was aimed more to the floor than at the path ahead. "Don't ask me how it works, Cate. There's microorganisms that can clean up waste products, electromagnetic fields that could attract them away..."
She watched the smudge of dirt fade away from the wall. "Maybe it's a special facility. Clean rooms, like delicate manufacturing. Or a medical station. The only problem is we don't find out until we're deeper in."

Dom strained to hear the noise and then gave her head a little shake. "Does anyone else hear that sound or do I need to get my ears checked?" She shined her flashlight on the markings on the wall, trying to make sense of them. That really wasn't much of her specialty though and she quickly gave up on that and took a few more tenative steps down the hall. She worried about stepping on something and made sure to keep her path well lit.

Silas pressed her other hand against the pillar for good measure, then stopped to check under her boots. "It's like . . . one big sonic shower, but in the metal. Might explain why the door was so clean? Wonder if it'll still work if we remove someone of the bits from the whole thing . . ." she mused aloud, slowly following Dom and watching the light of her flashlight.

As the crew moved further down the hall, they came to a smaller door than the front one. This one was only ten feet tall, and was half as wide as the first set of double doors. On it, the symbol of a frilled lizard stood on the center, carved into the metal by masters off their craft. It was an Adimar bust, though what it meant was still unknown to the group.
The door remained closed, and no holes were immediately in sight without having first touching the metal.

Dom shone the light on the frilled lizard. "Hey what do you think this means?" she asked out loud to nobody in particular. She looked to her sides for any other means of entrance and finding none she looked over the door again. "So do you think we should knock again? Worked the first time.."

"Silas 'as the same thinkin' I do." Finn calls over his shoulder, lifting a hand to experimentally touch the screen. "Question is, issit normal? Or is somethin' special abou' this place?"
If touching the screen did nothing of note, Finn would move over to study the lizard bust with the others, DOLLY moving up beside them dutifully.

Cate followed the others down toward the new door, "Think I hear somethin'. Maybe what Silas said, maybe it's... whatever backup power is keepin' things runnin' while the lights are down."
She grinned as Dom asked about the bust. "I think it means we're lookin' at a nice handsome Adimarizen. Or whatever ya wanna call 'em. Ain't that right boy?" The pilot laughed, walking up to inspect the carving more closely. With a grin she gave the lizard a pat on the 'crest'.

Keani kept along with the others down the hallway, keeping an eye on the passing architectural notes within the passage. "Some kind of generator, maybe?" she asked, looking at the door with the Adimar image. "I mean, it's either that or some... thing. Right?" Stepping in front of the door, she slipped the repeater back into its holster before touching the door's surface.

Silas followed after the others, standing in the back this time, rather than right at the front and leading the way. She didn't want her arm in any other holes. "Adimar tech doesn't run on power. The Narid surgically alter it to run on electricity or other sources of fuel," she reminded everyone.

Angel followed helplessly, unable to shake the feeling of being unable to really contribute much towards theory crafting. It changed though as soon as she saw the carved portrait. "Perhaps they are a political figure, or of some other importance, considering that their likeness is displayed first in greeting." Taking one last look around, her attention refocused on the lizard. "I suppose we need to find a way to open it, a method of turning everything on is likely past it."

Like before, in touching the metal, an arm sized hole opened itself beside the door. This one appeared just like the last one, except that it both hummed and gave off a faint glow, washing the faces of any who dared to look into it with a warm, white light.
Somewhere, deep within the complex, groaning and rumbling could be heard, a small hint for what was to come.
