Finn jumped as the hole opened, then immediately leaned in to peer into the hole, squinting to see past the light. His eyes travelled around the rim of it curiously, taking in the details.
"Curious. It cannae be a DNA scanner, since it reacts to us being human. Maybe it just wants to know we're alive?" He muses aloud, before looking at the others. "Any objections if'n I do this one?"

Dom peered in the hole and chewed her lip a moment, trying to think of an answer. "I dunno what it wants, but go for it hot shot." She looked around the room again for signs of anything different and then back to the door. "Maybe it's just some kind of space doorbell?"

Cate blinked in surprise as another hole appeared nearby, her hand slipping off the Adimar's nose as she turned to look. "...So what I'm gettin' here... Is that I got the magic touch." She grinned briefly before Finn made his suggestion. "...I dunno Finn. That didn't seem to go too good for Si. Ya sure that pokin' around in those is a good idea? This one seems a bit different. What if it doesn't work the same?"

"As much as I like poking around in foreign holes," she started, her tone dripping with sarcasm, "I'd really rather not do that again. I wasn't sure if it was going to crush my arm, gobble it up, or just . . . whatever," she muttered, stepping around the group to give the door a wide berth. "One of you folks can do it, but please don't lose any arms. I'm the disfigured one of the group, and once you take that away from me, what good am I?"

"It seems unlikely that anything bad should happen, since this place didn't take the opportunity with the last one. But it could have been a misdirection." She was mostly thinking out loud as she inspected the arm shaped hole from afar.
"I withdraw want in putting my arm through there, so I am out of the running."

"Maybe Dom's right. Maybe it's just their version of knocking on the door?" Keani stepped back from the doorway, staring at the inscription and hole. "You sure you want to go through with that, Finn? After seeing what Silas went through, and that you've come close to death a few times already, it's almost that you're making a habit of brushes with the infinite."

Finn nods to himself as the others chime in, staring at the hole. Finally, he looks over his shoulder and flashes a grin, though a tell-tale bead of sweat rolled down his temple.
"Nothin' ventured, nothin' gained, righ'?" He asks, looking back to the hole and rolling up his sleeves. "'Sides, we go' th' bes' doctor aroun', so worse comes to worse I'm in goo' 'ands."
He closes his eyes and breathes out slowly, then inhales and thrusts his arm in with a preemptive wince.

Dom keeps the light up where Finn stuck his arm into the hole. She watches nervously as she waits for it to eat his arm. She really really hopes it's a space doorbell. "Yeah.. Best doctor on the whole planet.."

Cate chuckles nervously. "Yeah. Best damned doctor to ever drop out of Sito's medical university." Her eyes dart to the hole again. "Just so we're all clear though. That ain't meanin' I can reattach whatever's left after that thing is done smushin' you."

Angel turned to look away, but it didn't last long. Like a high speed train crash, she couldn't look away long. Eyes focused on Finn's arm, her brows furrowed. "I hope all of you are right."

"Well, just look on the bright side. If things go bad, Finn, Cate'll fit you up with one of those wicked robotic arms with servos and gizmos." Keani slipped her repeater back out of its holster, angling toward the door as Finn reached inside. She tried to hide a slightly nervous expression as she focused on the door, the firearm pointed at an angle downward at the door's base. "Just yell if you feel anything crawling around inside."

As everyone gathered around Finn, the faint rumbling from deep within the complex faded completely. As he slipped his arm into the properly sized slot, light bathed his appendage and whirling sounds came from within. The hole tightened, wrapped around the man's arm, and then . . . released, far faster than it had for Silas'. Upon release, nothing else happened. No lights, no sounds, nothing at all.
Nothing except for both Keani and Silas, who both felt a strange tug towards the hole, and a soft ringing in the back of their heads.

Finn winced despite himself as the hole tightened, shutting his eyes tightly. When it released him and nothing happened however, he just stood there for a moment, slowly opening the lid of one orb to stare at it. He pulled his arm back and stared at his hand for a moment, then gave the biggest pout he'd delivered yet, staring at it. "Why didn' it..."

Cate braces for the screams as Finn approached the hole. He may be playing tough in his excitement, but she knew him better than that. So she waited, and waited, and then he pulled his arm out without even a peep. Blinking in surprise, the pilot looked about the room for any change. "Uhm... Maybe no one's home to open it up? Like ringin' a doorbell for an empty house? Though that don't explain why it worked outside."

"Or maybe it's a case of this room being a holding area, while what lies beyond manages to maintain exclusivity?" She took a moment to apply some tinted lip balm evenly over her lips, pressing them together for good measure before inspecting the hole. Apparently lip balm was a viable strategy for her.
"Perhaps Silas had her hand in a different shape, like how physical keys used to be shaped differently at the end?"
