Bastion cursed loudly and colorfully as he ran, head down and barreling down the hall. When he reached the stair well and tried to take a moment to breathe, he even allowed himself a brief moment of relaxation. Then the realization of a gun barrel being pointed at him registered, and his own swung around, to return the favor. Just who was holding it kept his index finger from making that fatal mistake, and he swung it away quickly, releasing it with one hand to hold up.
"Friendly!" he barked quickly, hoping he wasn't about to have Sebastian revive him. Again.

"It'll be a dark day indeed when Exo's join up with the Fallen," she quipped, already lowering her hand cannon to make it clear she didn't intend to fire. "How many of them are there? I'm taking bets," she explained rather calmly, peeking over Bastion's shoulder. "And how pissed are they?"

"There's enough to make a hall way a bad choice of hold out. And pissed enough to risk wrecking all our nice armor to pay back my flash bang. Keep moving please." Bastion replied, turning and looking back up the stairs even as he took another step down. "We need a room with some cover and a good angle of fire, quickly."

Sati nodded in understanding, turning around to start laying the way down a floor. "We don't have much time then, but I think I saw something we can use to ambush them with. We can hole up in two of the rooms and flank them as they go by," she suggested, already looking for suitable ruined rooms to hide in.
"Or we can try to pinch them out," she added. "One of us stays back and opens fire after they get by, the other pops out one they turn around, further down the hall." She leaned to the side to look for a suitable room for that plan, too.
"Decide fast, I don't think they're too keen on giving us time to prepare."

"They know I'm here. Hide, and I'll draw them in." He ordered, following he down with his gun aimed up the stairs. When they reached the bottom, he'd walk backwards, keeping his gun trained on the stair well until she ducked into a room. He'd then move to the end of the hall and take up position, standing defiantly at the end of the hall with his gun at the ready.
"C'mon you four eyed spawn of the Darkness! Pillage my armor off my cold, dead body!"

Sati nodded in approval and slipped into one of the side rooms. She briefly considered putting together a surprise for the Fallen, but recognized that she didn't have the time or reassurance that the building could take a concentrated explosion inside it.
With that thought, she hunkered down av and readied her gun, mentally counting down until it was time to strike. "He's interesting," she muttered to her Ghost. "Totally screwed up my recon but interesting."

"Is he?" The Ghost questioned earnestly before adding, "He seems to have some sense of tactics, at least."
The pair was barely even in position when the first of the dregs popped into Bastion's sight. It raised up its pistol with a howl, firing off a shot as it moved into the hallway. A vandal and another dreg followed behind it. They didn't move stupidly though, and while they were closing distance with the Titan they also started to duck into rooms and use them as cover.
It was this tactical decision that would leave Sati with a dreg's back to her, having gone unnoticed behind her cover. As for the other two, they had moved into rooms beyond Sati, closer to Bastion. Noise from the stairwell indicated that the final members of the guard were still hanging back.

Firing off a brief burst at the group that popped up first, Bastion ducked into cover as answering fire crackled towards him, chuckling to himself.
"Sebastian, map this floor. Make sure they can't get behind us." He said, as he poked his rifle around and fired off a extended burst. Plenty of loud noises to mask whatever his newfound partner was doing and hopefully keep her a secret.

Hand cannon in one hand and knife in the other, Sati-9 kept her comments to herself as the Fallen closed in on them. The hand cannon was hardly a quiet weapon, and so when the first Dreg came into her room, she slid forward and drove her knife into the back of it's neck.
With one down, getting to the others would prove difficult, but at least her fellow Exo was providing covering fire, enough to mask her footsteps to get her into the next room to face a Dreg or Vandal face on, but at least with the element of surprise guiding her knife.

Bastion's initial burst did little to slow the Fallen advance, though that was likely more to the point for the Exo's plan. He would be able to see a Dreg suddenly fall backwards into Sati's room, the Hunter quickly darting out when he next peeked over to shoot and vanishing into the room where the other Fallen were.
This left Bastion at the end of a hallway with two dregs in the stairwell at the end. At least as far as they could tell from the original count. Sebastian appeared next to Bastion, staying out of line of sight as it ran a scan. "There's another stairwell some distance behind us. The steps are broken, but that's never stopped Fallen before. Far enough that I wouldn't expect any to come from there."
Meanwhile, in the room that Sati had run into, she found herself face to face and in close quarters with a Vandal. The element of surprise was on her side though, and the knife stabbed deep into it's shoulder. Unfortunately this still left it with more good arms than her and it shoved its rifle forward to try and push her back.

Sati drove her knife deep into the Vandal's shoulder, disabling one of four arms. Of course that still left three arms to try and smack her away. "Damn . . . four-armed . . . " she snarled, trying to level her hand cannon to the Vandal's head. One shot was all she needed, and while it might ruin her surprise against the others, it'd add to the confusion at least.

"Maintain scanning protocols. If you get a flicker behind us let me know." Bastion ordered as he ducked into cover, thumbing the mag release. The drum mag slipped free and fell to the ground with a heavy thud, a second drawn from his belt and slid home with a heavy metal click. He racked the slide to prime the weapon, then threw himself around the corner.
His shoulder hit the ground and he rolled, coming up into a low crouch. His rifle snapped up, and the first red xeno he saw would be fired upon.

The shot fired, and the Vandal had the briefest of moments to regret pushing distance between itself and the Guardian before it crumpled to the ground. Wispy blue light leaked from what had once been its face.
In the hallway Bastion found himself in a more extended fight and as he stared down his sights waiting for the first sign of Fallen, Sati's shot rang out loudly from one of the side rooms. The noise caused a stir in the stairwell, and a dreg poked its head out to see what had happened only to find Bastion's rifle firing into it and dropping it to the ground.
By initial count, that left only one dreg still in the stairwell.

The dreg hitting the ground was all the signal he needed, and Bastion rose to his feet, sliding the rifle back onto his back. He then brought his hands up and punched his left into his right, a crackle of arc energy traveling between them on contact.
"One more. Advancing!" he yelled to his newfound partner, before starting to move down the hall. A brisk walk became a swift run as he headed for the stairs, more and more arclight building around him. By the time he reached the base of the stair well he was the center of a storm, and when the dreg came into view, lightning struck. The arclight condensed around his fist as he reared back, and drove it out, trying to smash it into the dreg for a electrifying finish.

Sati-9 was more than happy to stay back and let Bastion deliver the finishing blow. She wasn't much of a fighter, better suited for long range sniping and scouting, but that didn't mean she wasn't capable in a scrap or scuffle. She had killed her fair share of Fallen with just her knife alone, though when it came to the Hive she wanted to stay far away from them, and was uncomfortable even taking them down through a scope. A dead thing she may be, but those creatures of the Darkness were . . . something else entirely.
By the time she came out of her room, hand cannon up and at the ready, the Dreg was likely toasted with arclight, and Sati had a small moment to admire the Guardian before her. "Are you out scouting for the Vanguard, too?" she asked, whilst idly looking at the stairwell and leaving a mental note for her Ghost to check their surroundings.
